New, September 2024 Colton Buckley from Gatesville, TX had been wanting a 4-Horned ram for some time and he finally got his chance on the von Netzer Ranch Sept. 14, 2024. One shot and this mature ram was down. This was the second year Colton has hunted the von Netzer Ranch.

New, September 2024 Kyle Allen from Midland, TX made his first visit to the von Netzer Ranch a memorable one when he took this impressive tan Corsican ram on Sept. 14, 2024. The ram measured 32 inches with bases almost 10 inches.

Reece Engleman from Williston, N.D. had never hunted sheep before arriving at the von Netzer Ranch with younger brother Blake on Feb. 19, 2024. It took Reece a couple days to find the ram he wanted, and it was a dandy. This Black Hawaiian ram, a 3-year-old, already had mass of nearly 10 inches and measured out 33 inches in length.

Blake Engleman from Williston, N.D. came to the von Netzer Ranch on Feb. 19, 2024 where his dad, Rick, had hunted 10 years earlier. Just like his dad, Blake pursued a Black Hawaiian ram. Blake's trophy measured 32 inches with mass of 10 inches. The ram had just turned 4 years old.

Daniel Binz of Victoria, TX, has hunted all over the world but never had taken a pure Mouflon sheep. That all changed on his first trip to the von Netzer Ranch on Feb. 2, 2024. He took this impressive 6-year-old ram with one shot. The ram, a veteran of many fights through the years, measured 31 1/2 inches but was missing at least 2 1/2 inches broomed off while fighting and foraging through the years making him a world-class trophy.

Doug Matey of Victoria, TX made his first trip to the von Netzer Ranch a memorable one when he bagged this 5-year-old pure Mouflon ram on Feb. 2, 2024. The ram measured 31 inches but was missing at least 2 inches broomed off because of fighting and grazing which is quite common for mature Mouflon rams.

New, December 2023 Justin Stewart of Alvarado, TX, right, made a return visit to the von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 16, 2023 along with long-time friend Matt Anderson of Burleson, TX hoping to find a large Black Hawaiian ram for his quest of the Texas Slam. He did exactly that when he bagged this impressive trophy which measured nearly 37 inches with bases measuring 10 inches.

New, December 2023 Johnathan Brown of Austin, TX is a veteran hunter but had never hunted Axis deer before coming to the Von Netzer Ranch on December 1-2, 2023. Johnathan was lucky to be in the right place at the right time, twice, and took 2 large Axis does, including the one pictured above, while hunting the challenging quarry on the low-fenced Von Netzer Ranch.

New, December 2023 Nick Ayiotis of Austin, TX made his third hunting trip to the Von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 1-2, 2023 hoping to get a trophy Blackbuck antelope and an Axis deer from the free-ranging herd on the low-fenced Von Netzer Ranch. Mission accomplished! He took an Axis doe the first day and then this mature Blackbuck that measured almost 20 inches on the second day.

New, December 2023 Johnny Lam of Boston who previously served with the 82nd Airborne Division but had never hunted before, made his first trip to the Von Netzer Ranch a memorable one when he took this large, mature whitetail buck with one shot at almost 200 yards on the first day. He followed that up with a large Corsican ram the second day.

New, December 2023 Johnny Lam, a military veteran from Boston, made his first sheep hunt a good one when he took this large Corsican ram on the Von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 2, 2023. The ram measured 35 inches with 10 1/2-inch bases.

Josh and 10-year-old daughter Ireland Ott came from Baton Rouge to hunt a trophy ram and Axis deer the weekend of Oct. 20-22. Josh, who took a nice Corsican ram a year ago, bagged this impressive tan Corsican ram with one shot after a lengthy hunt. The ram measured 35 inches with a portion broomed off from fighting and grazing.

Josh Ott from Baton Rouge brought 10-year-old daughter Ireland for good luck to try and find a free-ranging Axis deer on the low-fenced Von Netzer Ranch on Oct. 21, 2023. Mission accomplished! The former LSU cheerleader bagged a nice Axis doe the same day his alma mater defeated visiting Army in football.

Jaime Ramirez of Baytown, TX made his first visit to the von Netzer Ranch on Sept. 24, 2023 hoping to find a nice Black Hawaiian ram to celebrate his 50th birthday. As he, his wife Kay and guide Garet Von Netzer set out to find a ram early that morning, they ran into a coyote. Game over for the coyote!

Jaime Ramirez of Baytown, TX had never hunted a ram before coming to the von Netzer Ranch on Sept. 23, 2023. The hunt was a birthday present from his wife Kay. The hunt turned out to be a birthday to remember as he took this 2 1/2-year-old Black Hawaiian ram after a lengthy hunt. The ram measured more than 33 inches with bases measuring over 10 inches.

Colton Buckley from Gatesville, TX made his first trip hunting at the Von Netzer Ranch hoping to get a TX Dall ram to begin his Texas slam and an Axis buck from the low-fenced ranch's free-ranging herd. Mission accomplished! Colton took this 3 1/2-year-old TX Dall after a morning stalk Aug. 19, 2023. The ram measured just past 30 inches and had bases measuring more than 10 1/2 inches.

Colton Buckley from Gatesville, TX had never killed an Axis deer but was hoping to change that while hunting on the low-fenced Von Netzer Ranch where the free-ranging Axis are very unpredictable. He happened to be in the right place at the right time to bag this beauty late on Aug. 19, 2023. He felled the hefty buck with one shot to the neck.

Dylan Beaver from Gatesville, TX came to the Von Netzer Ranch never having killed an Axis buck. That all changed on Aug. 19, 2023 when he felled this beauty with one shot to the neck. This was Dylan's first hunt at the Von Netzer Ranch.

Ryan Robertson of Borger, TX scheduled his first hunt ever for an Axis on July 11, 2023 and made the best of it. He took this nice buck from the von Netzer Ranch's free-ranging herd of Axis with one shot late in the day and his freezer no longer was low in meat.

Greg Williams from San Angelo, TX came to the Von Netzer Ranch looking for a trophy Mouflon and found it Jan. 28, 2023. This 5-year-old ram measured more than 30 inches but was missing at least 4 inches that were broomed off from fighting and grazing.

Cody Williams from San Angelo made a return trip to the Von Netzer Ranch on Jan. 27, 2023 after bagging a trophy ram a year ago. This time he ran into a large feral hog and made his only shot count.

Roger Croft of Nipomo, CA made his first trip to the Von Netzer Ranch looking for a trophy Black Hawaiian ram and a trophy Mouflon ram. Mission accomplished! He took this monster Black Hawaiian ram on Jan. 9, 2023. The 5-year-old trophy measured almost 40 inches on each side with 10-inch bases.

Roger Croft of Nipomo, CA had been looking for a trophy pure Mouflon ram for some time and found a beauty on his first trip to the von Netzer Ranch on Jan. 10, 2023. This 5-year-old ram measured more than 32 inches with at least 2 more inches broomed off from fighting and foraging. The ram's bases measured more than 9 inches.

Brodie, left, and Bristol von Netzer, twin grandsons of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, spent several days away from their Amarillo High school basketball team during Christmas break doing some hunting and helping on the family ranch near Fredericksburg. The last day of their visit, Dec. 30, 2022, they ran into a coyote in one of the ranch's many snares used to protect the sheep and their lambs. Game over for this coyote!

Brodie von Netzer of Amarillo, TX made good use of his time off from the Amarillo High School basketball team over Christmas break when he felled this whitetail buck on Dec. 23, 2022. This was his second buck taken on the Von Netzer Ranch that is operated by his grandfather, Garet von Netzer.

Keith Brock from Weatherford, TX had not hunted the Von Netzer Ranch for many years and returned this year to try and find an Axis buck. He was in the right place at the right time on Dec. 27, 2022 when this lone buck came through. Game over! Keith has hunted several times in Canada and Africa but had never seen an Axis before.

Ryder Guy, 11, of Liberty Hill, TX returned to the Von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 16, 2022 after taking 2 trophy rams a year earlier. This time, he hit the jackpot, when he took the third-largest ram ever taken on the Von Netzer Ranch in 20 years of offering hunts. The Mouflon-type ram measured just over 41 inches with huge mass. Little brother, Connor, 5, accompanied his big brother on the hunt and apparently brought Ryder good luck.

Chris Guy of Liberty Hill, TX made a return trip to the Von Netzer Ranch in 2022 looking for a pure Mouflon ram and hit pay dirt on Dec. 17 when he downed this majestic 3-year-old beauty with one shot after a lengthy stalk. The ram measured right at 28 inches and showed the classic heart-shaped curl unique to the pureblood rams.

Jason McWilliams spent a couple of hunt cycles pursuing a Mouflon trophy and bagged this majestic ram on Dec. 7, 2022. The ram measured almost 30 inches.

Jason McWilliams of Spring, TX made his first trip to the Von Netzer Ranch hoping to get an Axis and a Mouflon. Mission accomplished! His first shot nailed this large Axis buck after ranch owner Garet von Netzer called the deer, which had been fighting, in with an Axis call.

Justin Stewart of Alvarado, TX made his first visit to the Von Netzer Ranch in search of a trophy Corsican and his first Axis deer. He accomplished both objectives on Dec. 3, 2022, including this large Corsican ram after a lengthy stalk. The ram measured 31 inches and had bases of more than 10 inches.

Joshua Ott of Denham Springs, LA made his first hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch one to remember. The highlight was this Mouflon-type Corsican ram that measured nearly 31 inches.

Max Moore of Dallas, now a senior in high school, made his first hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch in 2015 with his dad, Jason Moore. Max never had been able to shoot a White-tailed buck anywhere until this year when he nailed this nice von Netzer Ranch beauty with one shot.

Dimitri Voutsinas of Austin had hunted for several years without bagging an animal before coming to the von Netzer Ranch with a hunting buddy. Dimitri downed this impressive Mouflon type ram with one shot on Nov.9, 2022 on his third day at the ranch. The ram measured nearly 30 inches.

Nick Ayiotis from Lakeway, TX started the first day of his return hunt to the Von Netzer Ranch with a trophy Axis buck. He followed that up in the afternoon on Nov. 7, 2022 with this 8-point whitetail buck that was 3 1/2 years old. More than a full year of extreme drought has affected the antler growth of all Hill Country bucks this hunting season.

Nick Ayiotis of Lakeway, TX made his second hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch hoping to find a free-ranging Axis buck that eluded him a year earlier. Mission accomplished! Nick had only about 2 seconds to react early morning Nov. 7, 2022 but did so to nail this impressive Axis trophy with one shot.

Hank Muhlbauer of Spring, TX continued working toward his Texas Slam of trophy sheep on Nov. 4, 2022 when he bagged this impressive Texas Dall ram. The 4-year-old ram measured 34 inches and will look good on the wall. The eighth-grader now has taken 3 of the 4 trophy sheep of the Slam, leaving him only the Mouflon to try and track down.

Shelby Gomes of Makawao, Hawaii had been planning on hunting a pureblood Mouflon on the Von Netzer Ranch for the last 10 years and finally got his chance on Feb. 27, 2021. He took advantage of the opportunity when he took this beautiful 5-year-old ram with one shot after a lengthy hunt. The ram measured nearly 32 inches long with the characteristic heart-shaped curl and had more than an inch broomed off from fighting and grazing.

Shelby Gomes and his wife, Ronnelle, visited the Von Netzer Ranch hoping to take a trophy Mouflon and a trophy Black Hawaiian ram if possible. Shelby made good shots on both trophies after lengthy stalks. He took this monster Black Hawaiian ram on March 1, 2022 with one shot. The 5 1/2-year-old ram measured almost 42 inches on each side, making it one of the largest ever taken on the ranch.

Cody Williams of San Angelo, TX made his first hunting trip to the Von Netzer Ranch a good one when he bagged this trophy Black Hawaiian ram on Feb. 11, 2022. The sheep measured nearly 35 inches in length with bases almost 10 inches.

Nine-year-old Jaxten Jennings and his grandfather, Ed Fourton, both of Abilene, came to the Von Netzer Ranch Jan. 15, 2022 looking for a Corsican ram. Jax found what he was looking for and took this dandy that measured almost 32 inches.

Brad Jessup from Westminster, MD came to the Von Netzer Ranch to take a pureblood Mouflon after waiting since 2015 for that hunt, and after bagging a beauty, an all-tan Corsican bruiser caught his eye. Brad bagged that ram on Jan. 7, 2022. It measured almost 35 inches with bases well over 10 inches.

Brad Jessup of Westminster, MD was on the waiting list for a pure Mouflon on the Von Netzer Ranch for 7 years, and when his time came, on Jan. 4, 2022, he made the most of it. This majestic Mouflon measured almost 32 inches with bases of more than 9 1/2 inches. This 5-year-old beauty was missing at least 1 1/2 inches due to brooming while foraging. This Mouflon completed Brad's sheep slam.

Billy Bielamowicz of Conroe, TX waited til the last day of 2021 to hunt the Von Netzer Ranch and came away with a unique Corsican trophy. The 3 1/2-year-old ram measured almost 34 inches and was more than 41 inches wide from tip to tip.

Lucchese Trevino, left, and his dad, Ruben, both from Donna, TX, had never hunted together before they came to the Von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 29, 2021, but they left with special memories that will last a lifetime. Lucchese bagged a large Mouflon type Corsican, while his dad took a large Black Belly Corsican, both with one shot at long distance. Lucchese's ram measured right at 30 inches with 9 1/2-inch bases, while Ruben's trophy measured right at 33 inches with bases almost 9 1/2 inches. Lucchese's ram was nearly 3 years old, while Ruben's sheep was 4 1/2 years old.

Ryder Guy of Liberty Hill, TX made his first hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch one hard to top. On the first day, Ryder took a large Black Hawaiian Ram, his first sheep, and he followed that up the second day, Dec. 18, 2021, by taking this huge all-tan Corsican bruiser. That Corsican ram measured almost 37 inches with 11-inch bases.

Chris Guy of Liberty Hill, TX made his first hunting trip to the Von Netzer Ranch a year earlier and saw an impressive mature Black Hawaiian Ram with a tight curl he liked. He returned a year later, found the ram and managed to take him on Dec. 17, 2021 while hunting with his son, Ryder, who bagged his first ram on the same hunt. The big Black Hawaiian ram measured nearly 38 inches with bases measuring almost 11 inches.

Ten-year-old Ryder Guy from Liberty Hill, TX came to the Von Netzer Ranch with his dad, Chris, hoping to find a trophy Black Hawaiian ram. He did just that and bagged this monster with one shot after a lengthy stalk on Dec. 17, 2021. This Black Hawaiian bruiser, believed to be 5 years old, measured more than 36 inches.

Culley Callaway of Ft. Worth, TX made his first trip to the Von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 11, 2021 hoping to bag a large ram. He succeeded when he took this large Black Hawaiian trophy that measured right at 36 inches with bases that measured 10 inches.

Travis Re of Boston and Dan Mulledy of Atlanta came to the Von Netzer Ranch to bag big rams but managed to get in some deer hunting for the freezer in between ram hunt cycles.

Travis Re of Boston came to the Von Netzer Ranch to bag a monster sheep, and he succeeded on Dec. 3, 2021 when he bagged this huge Black Hawaiian ram. The ram measured almost 40 inches with bases right at 11 inches.

Dan Mulledy of Atlanta,GA made his first hunt for a sheep a good one on the Von Netzer Ranch. He took this impressive Black Hawaiian ram with one shot on Dec. 3, 2021. The ram measured almost 36 inches with 10 1/2-inch bases.

Dan Mulledy of Atlanta came ram hunting on his first trip to the Von Netzer Ranch and hoped to find an Axis if possible. He succeeded when he bagged this beauty on Dec. 4, 2021.

Nick Ayiotis of Lakeway, TX made his first trip to the Von Netzer Ranch one to remember. He bagged this large 4-horned ram on Dec. 4, 2021, and on the way back to ranch headquarters, he took an Axis doe to help fill the freezer.

Luca Fournier of Spring, TX made a return visit to the Von Netzer Ranch to try and find a whitetail buck after shooting a whitetail doe in 2020. He was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time on Nov. 27, 2021 and took this nice buck, the biggest he's ever shot.

Hank Muhlbauer of Spring, TX returned to the von Netzer Ranch the day after Thanksgiving, 2021, to hunt a trophy ram. Hank found this beautiful Black Hawaiian bruiser and made sure he came away with an impressive wall mount. The ram measured more than 36 inches with bases nearly 11 inches.

Tyler Shultz, left, and Carl Duffield, hunting buddies from Baton Rouge, LA., ran into this hefty porker while hunting Nov. 23, 2021 on the Von Netzer Ranch. Tyler made short work of the boar with his .270.

Errol Mix of Baton Rouge, LA took this mature whitetail buck on Nov. 22, 2021. The dandy 8-point trophy was Errol's first whitetail buck, so he was a happy camper.

Jay Richardson, left, and Adam Zeringue, both of Baton Rouge, LA, came to visit the Von Netzer Ranch Nov. 10, 2021 in advance of an upcoming hunting trip to the ranch, and they happened upon a large wild hog in one of the pastures. Bad news for the porker as Adam lit up the large sow to eliminate future litters of piglets.

Brian Barth of Carmel, Ind. was out hunting sheep on the Von Netzer Ranch when this hapless porker picked the wrong time to travel by. Brian, who took a trophy Mouflon on his second trip to the ranch, nailed this boar with one shot at 125 yards.

Brian Barth of Carmel, Ind. waited a while for his Mouflon hunt on the Von Netzer Ranch, but he made the most of the opportunity on Nov. 6, 2021. After a lengthy morning hunt, Brian had a real trophy come by and he made the most of the opportunity. This majestic 5-year-old ram measured almost 33 inches, with at least an inch broomed off, and had bases measuring 10 1/2 inches.

Kirk Chudej of Amarillo, TX had never hunted sheep before arriving at the Von Netzer Ranch, but he took advantage of the ranch's quality animals once he arrived. He downed this monster Black Hawaiian with one shot on Oct. 4, 2021 after a lengthy stalk. The 5-year-old ram measured 41 1/2 inches with bases almost 11 inches wide.

Robby Price of Amarillo, TX made his first hunt on the von Netzer Ranch a successful one when he took this Black Hawaiian ram on Oct. 3, 2021. The 6-year-old ram measured nearly 34 inches.

Three hunting buddies from Amarillo, TX chose to try hunting for some of the free-ranging Axis deer on the Von Netzer Ranch during the week of June 21-25, 2021, and all three cashed in their chips for an Axis each. Wil Cooke, left, and Clay Ivey, right, took nice does, while Braxon Hightower, second from left, took a mature buck that measured almost 32 inches.

Braxon Hightower of Amarillo, TX made his first hunt for a free-ranging Axis buck on the Von Netzer Ranch one to remember. It took Braxon 3 days of hunting before he was in the right place at the right time. The mature buck came by close enough that Braxon was able to down him in his tracks with one shot to the neck on June 24, 2021. The antlers measured right at 32 inches.

Jon McQueen of San Jose, CA bagged a Blackbuck Antelope on the von Netzer Ranch a few weeks earlier but noticed a special Corsican ram in the process that he felt would blend in well with his trophy sheep gallery. He returned on March 11, 2021 to hunt for that ram and bagged him after a lengthy stalk. The majestic ram measured more than 38 inches with 10 1/4-inch bases.

Clint Kotal of Boerne, TX made his first visit to the von Netzer Ranch for a pureblood Mouflon. He got one the morning of Jan. 30, 2021 and finished up later that day by taking one of the free-ranging Axis bucks that are seen on the ranch.

Jon McQueen of San Jose, CA made a return trip to the von Netzer Ranch to bag a Blackbuck antelope. He succeeded on Jan. 20, 2021 when he took this beauty with one shot after a lengthy stalk. The mature buck measured more than 19 inches.

A.J. Ortegon of Buda, TX made his first trip to the von Netzer Ranch one to remember when he took this Painted Desert Corsican on Jan. 16, 2021. The 4-year-old ram measured 37 inches with bases nearly 10 inches.

Jason Moore of Dallas has hunted on the von Netzer Ranch for many years but he's never bagged an animal on New Year's Day, until 2021. He nailed this Texas Dall ram after a lengthy hunt with one shot. The 4 1/2-year-old ram measured 34 1/4 inches with bases measuring more than 10 inches.

Shane Davis of Georgetown, TX, who's been hunting all his life, had only seen 2 Axis deer before arriving on the von Netzer Ranch. While hunting sheep for 2 days, Davis ran into this free-ranging Axis on the von Netzer Ranch and dropped him with one shot to the neck on Dec. 12, 2020.

Robert West of Waller, TX capped off his first hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 14, 2020 by taking this impressive Axis buck with one shot to the neck. It was Robert's first Axis deer and came after taking a monster Black Hawaiian ram just an hour earlier.

Robert West of Waller, TX made his first visit to the von Netzer Ranch a memorable one on Dec. 14, 2020. On his first sheep hunt, he managed to take this massive Black Hawaiian ram. The ram measured 43 1/2 inches with 10-inch bases, making this sheep the largest ram ever taken in 15 years of offering sheep hunts on the von Netzer Ranch.

James Hoke of Sherman, TX returned to the von Netzer Ranch in 2020 to hunt a Blackbuck Antelope buck after being unable to bag one a year earlier. This time, he was in the right place at the right time and took this impressive Blackbuck buck on Dec. 14, 2020. The mature animal measured 23 inches.

Chris Guy of Liberty Hill, TX took the first sheep of his hunting career on the von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 11, 2020. The Black Hawaiian ram measured more than 32 inches with good mass.

Shane Davis of Georgetown, TX took the first sheep of his hunting career when he bagged this impressive Black Hawaiian on Dec. 11, 2020. The 5-year-old ram measured right at 35 inches with bases measuring almost 10 inches.

Timmy Daigle of Houma, LA took this majestic mature Mouflon ram on Dec. 7, 2020 after waiting several years for his hunt. The 5-year-old ram measured just over 32 inches.

Carl Tregre of Houma, LA spotted this strawberry Corsican several years ago and was impressed with the ram's impressive features, especially the mane. He took the ram with one shot after a lengthy stalk on Dec. 7, 2020.

Brandon von Netzer and Kam McKinnon, both grandsons of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, spoiled the day for this female coyote on 11-30-20.

Derek Tarin and his son, Noah, from Little Rock, AR returned this season to find a nice Black Hawaiian ram. Noah, who took a ram last fall, found a monster Black Hawaiian ram and downed it with one shot after a lengthy wait on Nov. 20, 2020. The ram measured 40 1/2 inches with huge mass to match. Noah will have a tough time improving on that trophy in the future.

Fermin Blum of Houston finished off a lengthy stalk on Nov. 14, 2020 by taking a large Black Hawaiian ram. The ram measured an impressive 36 inches with impressive mass. It was Fermin's first visit to the ranch to hunt.

Pablo Blum of Round Rock, TX made his first trip to the von Netzer Ranch memorable when he took a Black Hawaiian ram on Nov. 13, 2020. The ram measured 32 1/2 inches.

Nathan Pollok of Floresville made a return trip to the von Netzer Ranch to try and find a large Axis buck. He was unable to bag one of the ranch's free-ranging Axis bucks three weeks earlier but this time found himself in the right place at the right time on Nov. 9, 2020.

Hank Muhlbauer of Spring, TX came with his dad and long-time hunter Nick Muhlbauer on the von Netzer Ranch hoping to find his first whitetail buck. He left a happy camper after bagging a nice 7-point buck with a 19-inch spread on Nov. 8, 2020.

P. J. Moore of Spring, TX came to the von Netzer Ranch to bag one of the ranch's free-ranging Axis bucks. After being skunked the first couple of days, P. J. found himself in the right place at the right time to bag this huge-bodied Axis buck on Nov. 8, 2020.

Nick Muhlbauer of Spring, TX has been hunting on the von Netzer Ranch for many years. His most recent objective was a trophy Texas Dall to complete his Texas Slam. That happened on Nov. 6, 2020. The large ram measured out 32 inches with impressive mass.

Luca Fournier of Spring, TX made his first hunting trip a memorable one. He bagged a mature Whitetail doe with one well-placed shot on opening day of the Texas deer-hunting season on Nov. 7.

Ronny Schweyher of Cedar Hill, TX, who's hunted often during the last few years at the von Netzer Ranch, came for a weekend of hunting and took this feral hog on Oct. 24, 2020. He has taken Axis deer, Blackbuck Antelope and several types of sheep through the years, but this was his first wild pig.

Nathan Pollock of Floresville, TX hunted hard for an Axis buck on the low-fenced von Netzer Ranch where the elusive deer are free-ranging but was unable to get one. He didn't go away empty-handed though as he took out one of the wild hogs that roam the Hill Country.

The von Netzer family discovered we were about out of deer meat in the freezer...Brandon von Netzer, grandson of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, was happy to rise to the occasion and took this massive Axis buck on July 2, 2020. It's representative of the Axis bucks found on the Hill Country ranch.

Phil Frey of Fredericksburg has hunted the von Netzer Ranch for trophy sheep for several years and pursued the elusive free-ranging Axis at the same time, but without any success. Phil returned on Feb. 28, 2020 for another try, and this time, he was in the right place at the right time to bag a huge Axis buck in velvet.

Fifteen-year-old Masyn Hoke from Sherman, TX made her first trip to the von Netzer Ranch a memorable one. She took this Mouflon type ram on Feb. 7, 2019 with one shot after a lengthy hunt. The ram measured almost 33 inches.

Marie Hoke of Sherman, TX bagged this all-tan Corsican ram late in the day on Feb. 8, 2020 on her first trip to the von Netzer Ranch. The mature ram measured right at 35 inches.

Frank Renfro of Amarillo, TX has hunted the von Netzer Ranch for more than a decade and taken many majestic trophy sheep during that time. His latest trip, the last weekend of January, resulted in another trophy, a Black Hawaiian ram that measured right at 35 inches.

Brodie von Netzer of Amarillo, 7th-grade grandson of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, took his first deer ever on Dec. 28, 2019. The 8-point whitetail was estimated at 3 1/2 years old.

Kevin von Netzer, son of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, and his twin son Bristol ran into some free-ranging Axis deer while hunting Dec. 23, 2019 on the von Netzer Ranch. After a lengthy stalk, Bristol took this large Axis buck in full velvet with one shot from his new rifle. It took 3 grown men to load the deer into one of the ranch trucks.

Attie Reeves of McKinney took his first animal ever in a hunt while on his first visit to the von Netzer Ranch on Dec. 14, 2019. Attie's Black Hawaiian ram had one side blemished from fighting but measured 35 inches on its good side.

Derek Tarin of Little Rock, AR has hunted the von Netzer Ranch several times before but came this time looking for a big Corsican. He found it! In fact, this massive Corsican is the biggest Corsican ram ever taken on the von Netzer Ranch. It measured nearly 41 inches with bases measuring more than 10 1/2 inches.

Noah Tarin, 11, of Little Rock, AR took his first sheep while hunting with his dad on the von Netzer Ranch on Nov. 22, 2019. The Texas Dall measured 30 inches.

Madison and Kam McKinnon were with their father, Mike, when he took this monster Axis buck that ventured out onto an oat patch Nov. 18, 2019. Madison and Kam are the grandchildren of ranch owner Garet von Netzer. Mike took the buck with one shot at 160 yards.

Paul Chappee of Albany, MO. took this trophy Mouflon on Nov. 12, 2019. The ram measured 30 1/2 inches but was missing nearly 2 inches broomed off from fighting.

Madison McKinnon, granddaughter of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, shot her first deer on Nov. 12, 2019, and it was a good one. The Whitetail buck sported 8 points with a spread of nearly 17 inches. Madison is an 8th grader at Fredericksburg Middle School where she excels in basketball, volleyball and track.

Byron Carruthers of Blackfalds, Alberta, Canada cashed in big on his latest hunt on the von Netzer Ranch on Nov. 11, 2019. Carruthers took a monster Black Hawaiian ram that is the biggest ever taken on the von Netzer Ranch. The majestic ram measured 42 1/2 inches on each side with bases that measured 11 1/2 inches. Carruthers pursued this majestic animal for much of 2 days before getting the shot he wanted.

Hank Muhlbauer of Spring, TX made his first hunt on the von Netzer Ranch a memorable one by taking this Corsican ram on Nov. 1, 2019 and a whitetail doe on Nov. 2. His ram measured nearly 30 inches with bases measuring 10 1/2 inches.

Nine-year-old Marcus Piehl of Fulshear, TX took the first deer of his life on Nov. 2, 2019 on the von Netzer Ranch. The impressive 8-pointer had a 16-inch spread and was 3 1/2 years old. Marcus dropped the buck in his tracks with one shot from nearly 100 yards.

John Piehl of Fulshear, TX took the biggest sheep of his lifelong hunting career when he shot this large Black Hawaiian ram on Nov. 2, 2019. The ram measured almost 37 inches with bases measuring 11 1/2 inches.

Jon McQueen of San Jose, CA was the last hunter to hunt the von Netzer Ranch during the season of 2018-19, but he was the first to hunt this fall/winter season. He left a happy camper because he bagged two beautiful trophies in the same day, Sept. 25, 2019. In the morning, he took this impressive Black Hawaiian ram. The 3 1/2-year-old ram measured nearly 35 inches with bases that measured 10 inches.

Late on the afternoon of Sept. 25, 2019, Jon McQueen of San Jose, CA took this huge Axis buck with one shot at 125 yards. This mature Axis weighed more than 300 pounds before he was field dressed. His brow tines measured nearly 17 inches, and his main beams reached 34 inches. All the Axis deer on the low-fenced von Netzer Ranch are free-ranging.

Jon McQueen of San Jose, CA took this trophy Mouflon ram on March 20, 2019.  The 4-year-old ram measured 28 inches.

Larry Browning of Dayton, Ohio took this battle-scarred trophy Mouflon ram on Feb. 20, 2019.  The ram had damage to both sides of his horns, but was estimated to be more than 32 inches before having parts knocked off in fighting.  The 5-year-old ram had bases of nearly 9 1/2 inches.

Tony Hayhurst of Dudley, TX retuned to the von Netzer Ranch after his first trip last year produced a trophy Black Hawaiian ram.  This trip, on Jan. 12, 2019, Tony took an impressive Painted Desert Corsican ram after a lengthy stalk.

Jim McBride of Edmond, OK took this majestic Mouflon ram with one shot after a day-long stalk on Dec. 14, 2018. The ram measured 32 1/4 inches with more than 2 inches broomed off from fighting and grazing. The bases measured more than 9 inches.

Matt McBride, who lives in Costa Rica but has family in Edmond, OK, took this monster eight-point Whitetail buck at sunup on Dec. 15. The 3 1/2-year-old buck boasted an antler spread of 20-plus inches and dressed out at 130 pounds. This majestic deer is a good example of the Texas Hill Country bucks that roam the low-fenced von Netzer Ranch.

Phil Frey of Fredericksburg returned for a second hunt this past fall/winter season on April 3, 2018, this time looking for a tan Corsican. He found one but had a lengthy stalk before getting a shot late in the day. The ram measured 34 inches making him one of the largest all-tan Corsicans taken on the von Netzer Ranch.

Kristi Hernandez of Garden City, TX took this magnificent Painted Desert ram March 3, 2018. The ram measured 36 inches long with bases measuring nearly 11 inches. Her husband, Phillip, took a large Mouflon ram in December, 2017, so it was Kristin's second hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch.

Frank Renfro of Amarillo, TX didn't pass up a coyote while hunting Feb. 2-4, 2018 on the von Netzer Ranch. This was Frank's 10th annual hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch, and during that time, he's never needed more than one shot to take an animal, including this coyote.

Frank Renfro of Amarillo, TX has hunted sheep on the von Netzer Ranch for 10-straight years. This year he topped all the other big trophy sheep he's taken when he took this huge Corsican ram on Feb. 3, 2018. The 6-year-old ram measured 37 1/2 inches with bases measuring more than 10 inches. The ram had heavy Mouflon influence along with the horn length of a large Corsican.

Jason Moore of Dallas came to the von Netzer Ranch to bag a trophy Black Hawaiian ram, and did, but along the way, he ran into some feral hogs and took this large boar with one shot, dropping it in its tracks on Jan. 21, 2018.

Jason Moore of Dallas made his fifth hunting trip to the von Netzer Ranch one to remember. He took this massive Black Hawaiian ram on Jan. 19, 2018 with one shot. The 4 1/2-year-old ram measured nearly 36 inches long with bases that measured more than 11 1/2 inches.

Mick Kennedy of Dallas made the first hunt of his life a memorable one when he took this whitetail on the last weekend of the Texas season to harvest whitetail does.

Missy Sells of Tomball, TX took this nearly 6-year-old Mouflon ram on Jan. 3, 2018 after a lengthy hunt. The ram measured 30 inches but was missing at least 3 inches from fighting. The ram completed the Tomball High School junior's Texas Slam of trophy rams.

Bristol von Netzer, grandson of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, spent a week after Christmas with his family at the von Netzer Ranch. Much of the time was spent doing ranch projects, but there was some time for hunting. This coyote was the unlucky victim of a new coyote call and a good shot at 200 yards, a Christmas present for the von Netzer family. It worked!

Grady Flowers, a junior at Amarillo, TX High School, took his first Axis buck on Dec. 29, 2017.

Brandon von Netzer, an Amarillo High School junior and grandson of ranch owner Garet von Netzer, spent several days at the von Netzer Ranch after Christmas with hunting in mind. Among the unlucky victims was this large feral boar hog which Brandon downed with one shot to the head at 100 yards with a 22-250 to drop the pig in its tracks.

John Rodrigues from Monroe, CT took this monster Mouflon on Nov. 11, 2017 after a lengthy hunt. This majestic animal was 4 1/2 years old and measured just over 34 inches with 9-inch bases. The ram was missing at least 1 1/2 inches on one side and an inch on the other making him one of the largest pureblood Mouflons ever taken on the von Netzer Ranch.

Joe Southerland of Mansfield, TX doubled up while hunting free-ranging Axis deer on the von Netzer Ranch on Oct. 21, 2017. He took a doe, and then a buck stood up at the shot. After a short pursuit, Joe got a good shot at the buck, and now his freezers will be full for a while.

Ronny Schweyher of Cedar Hill, TX. took this dandy Axis buck a couple of hours after wife Lisa bagged her first Axis buck ever. This free-ranging buck measured more than 31 inches. Ronny and Lisa have spent a lot of time trying to outwit the unpredictable Axis deer in recent months on the von Netzer Ranch and just happened to be in the right place at the right time on the same day. Now their freezers will be well-stocked going into the whitetail deer-hunting season.

Lisa Schweyher of Cedar Hill, TX took this mature Axis buck with one shot at just under 100 yards early Sept. 2, 2017. This mature buck measured out nearly 32 inches. All the wildlife, including the Axis deer, are free-ranging on the low-fenced von Netzer Ranch where hunters match wits with all the animals in either still hunting or spot-and-stalk conditions.

The low-fenced ranch has a free-ranging population of Axis deer. First-time hunter Joe Bartoletti of Carrollton, TX was after a ram with mass and length, and it happened on Dec. 17, 2016. This Painted Desert ram measured 34 1/2 inches with bases of more than 10 1/2 inches.

Austen Mudd of Carrollton, TX took this Corsican with one shot after a lengthy hunt on Dec. 16, 2016. The ram measured out at more than 34 inches. It was the first sheep Mudd has taken.

Ronny Schwehyer of Cedar Hill, TX took this massive Mouflon ram on Dec. 9, 2016. Ronny, who came away with an in-tact trophy Mouflon two weeks earlier, saw this even larger trophy with part of one side broken off from fighting and returned to take him on Dec. 9. The von Netzer Ranch discounts rams with broken-off horns in all species. This particular ram, estimated to be nearly 9 years old, measured 33 inches on his in-tact side but was missing at least 2 1/2 inches from that side. That makes him the largest Mouflon ram taken in more than 15 years of hunting these majestic sheep on the von Netzer Ranch.

Jeff Krause of Ft. Worth, TX hunted an Axis buck for nearly 3 days on the low-fenced von Netzer Ranch before taking this one on Dec. 11, 2016. The young buck proved to be a freezer filler. It took 3 men to load the large-bodied deer into the back of the ranch pickup.

Ross Bruggemann of Keller, TX took this 3-year-old Black Hawaiian ram on Dec. 18, 2015 with one shot at 130 yards. The ram measured 35 1/2 inches with bases measuring almost 11 inches. It was Ross' first time to hunt sheep.

Bill Stonestreet of Katy, TX took this impressive Mouflon ram on Dec. 16, 2015 after hunting the sheep for 2 days. The 5-year-old ram measured 32 1/4 inches on his good side but was missing at least 2 full inches from being broomed off.

Bill Campbell of Mountain Home, TX took this tan Corsican on Nov. 15, 2015. The nearly 4-year-old ram measured 34 1/4 inches despite having more than an inch broomed off. Its bases measured almost 10 inches.

Geoff Wooding of Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada took this Blackbuck antelope buck on Nov. 11, 2015 after a 2-day-long stalk. The buck measured 19 inches and had a width of 22 inches.

Byron Carruthers of Blackfalls, Alberta, Canada took this huge Mouflon ram on Nov. 10, 2015. The 6 1/2-year-old ram measured 33 inches but had at least 2 inches broomed off.

Audie Zwahr of Spring, TX took this Painted Desert on Nov. 11, 2015 after a day-long stalk. The 3-year-old ram measured more than 33 inches with bases of more than 10 inches.

Ronny Schweyher of Cedar Hill, TX. took this massive Black Hawaiian ram on Oct. 31, 2015. The 3-year-old ram measured just shy of 39 inches with bases measuring 10 1/2 inches.

Frank Renfro of Amarillo, who previously completed his Texas Slam in multiple trips to the von Netzer Ranch, decided to start on another slam on Feb. 6, 2015. He began the new slam in impressive fashion by taking this Black Hawaiian measuring 36 1/4 inches.

Omair Ahmed of Porter, TX took this unique 4-horn ram on Jan. 30. This impressive ram was just 2 years old.

Terry and his wife, Cheri, of Arthur, NE hunted together on Jan. 21, 2015 on Terry's third trip to the von Netzer Ranch. Terry took this 2-year-old Painted Desert ram with one shot at 100 yards. The ram measured 33 1/4 inches with bases measuring almost 10 inches.

Mike Easley of Abilene took this Mouflon ram with one shot on Jan. 8, 2015 after a lengthy pursuit. The ram measured 30 3/4 inches but was missing at least 2 full inches from fighting and grazing.

Chad Tate of Summit, MS, took this 4-horned ram with one shot at nearly 200 yards on Jan. 6, 2015.

Terrie Olson of Summit, MS took this monster Corsican with one shot at 150 yards on Jan. 6, 2015. The ram, Terrie's first, will be hard to top. It measured 36 3/4 inches with 10-plus inch bases. She hunted this particular ram for 6-straight hours before finally getting a shot.
